Stop here for a moment. On your left is the Palais Rusca. It was built in 1776 as barracks for a city garrison that could hold up to 725 men. It continued to be used as a barracks until 1990 when it became an annex of the Palais de Justice courts. It still functions as a courthouse. Continue through the passage to the square ahead.

The courthouse was built in neo-classical style in the late nineteenth century. The Court took residence in the Caserne Annex Rusca, former barracks along the square. Between the two buildings is a beautiful pedestrian square which is excellent for walks. Walk between the Port and the Place Massena, lasts about two hours, apart from the time to visit the churches and the Palais Lascaris.
